Very intimate, but with a great stage.

I've always been a fan of the theater; even when it was still played with a musical. The acoustics are great and the ambience is just beautiful. On Sunday I saw "Porgy and Bess" and it was just wonderful;)! The corona measures were also observed, no break rooms, free spaces, etc. Where you can possibly deduct a star, but I don't know, is there a lift? I always sit downstairs with my girlfriend; So parquet / ground floor, she doesn't need him there.

Beautiful

A historic theater where Mozart's Magic Flute, Beethoven's Hero, Fate, Rural Symphony and Opera Fidelio premiered. There is Papageno Gate on the side of Mirekka Street. Although the sound is slightly wet, it is not as loud as the National Opera House and can be realistic.

Dress rehearsal Egmont! An imposing staging of an ever-current topic. A wonderful set design and such actors in connection with modern music make you dream of freedom ...

Since 2006, the historic and charming Theater an der Wien is the third opera house in the Austrian capital and is famous for its outstanding quality performances and innovative productions. Also grandiose concertante opera is given here. An absolute recommendation - every music lover will be thrilled. It was planned and built by Emanuel Schikaneder (librettist of the Magic Flute and first Papageno), who was also the first director. Opening 1801. Beethoven lived in the theater for several years and many of his great works were also premiered here.

We saw Rusalka. Very good..

Great theater with great performers

One of the oldest and best theatre in vienna, great place to visit, great place to see. Especially some works are great, just check the list of the works before you visit Vienna and go easily. You also can visit naschmarkt easily before or after the event.

For me this is definitely the best opera house in Vienna. Modern interpretations of classic baroque operas.

AMERICAN LULU

Very nice theater! Yesterday was again and it was a great idea. By the way, the seats are a lot more comfortable than in the State Opera;)

Beautiful building but like many older theatres seat space is restricted, as is the veiw if you are not in the front row of the rings. It was also oppresively hot. We were there for the opening night of William Tell, a fabulous modern adaptation, the sets where impressive and the cast fabulous. However due to our discomfort we had to leave during the interval.

Vienna's third opera scene, the An der Wien Theater is also a place steeped in history that has seen the creation of Mozart's The Magic Flute. Productions are more modern or less conservative than Staatsoper, but in return, you are less likely to hear the stars of the operatic singing.

Cozy and beautiful place

This theater is old, but nice inside, and very historic. The seating leaves something to be desired, with absolutely no legroom and nearly vertical seat backs.

Magnificent theater in the center of Vienna with a wonderful red showroom. Golden statues carry the superior balconies... it's very beautiful.

Great, intimate venue, ideal for established and up-and-coming Baroque voices. Their opera in concert programme has been particularly outstanding in recent years. [edit 14 May 2017] Revisited since my review and I had to up one star. I just have the best memories from this place :-)

Although not always coming up with the best shows, one can ALWAYS count on Theatre an der wien to show the most interesting Operas, with the most interesting staging. After visiting there often last year, I can officially declare myself as a huge fan of this theater.

Great production of Don Giovanni... seats very uncomfortable on the balconies!

Small but traditional and excellent opera house. Reservation of tickets is recommended.
